After more than a year of uncertainty, a new chapter for little Miloš

Miloš, a first-grade student, harbors ambitious dreams – he aspires to become a pilot, a musician, a soccer player, and a football player. At seven years old, Miloš was born with a significant, incurable genetic condition. Following a period of considerable uncertainty, he is set to undergo advanced gene therapy once more.

“The journey has been lengthy, if I may express it so,” explains Daliborka Bunić, Miloš’s mother. “We initially submitted the application last February, but unfortunately, it was declined.”

The funding for the Vyjuvek medication was ultimately approved by the health insurance company after a submission from the manufacturer occurred in December. This therapy, which Miloš previously received for six months in America, is now being reintroduced.

“It’s not limited to skin issues; we’ve also observed improvements regarding anemia, eye complications, and esophageal problems,” she adds. After a year of waiting, the treatment is finally proceeding. “And there were improvements: his wounds started to heal faster,” she says.

This marks a significant step forward following a period of considerable uncertainty.
