Mom, don’t post me! What do children really think about life online

At first glance, this seems to be quite normal and well-intentioned. Parents want to preserve memories, share pride, closeness or moments of happiness. But a significant question arises: what does it mean for the development of identity if the child grows up with the feeling that his life is constantly recorded and potentially also publicly exposed?

This is not a question of moralizing or looking for the culprit in parents, but of understanding the new developmental reality that humanity did not know in the past. The development of identity is formed through relationships. The child gradually develops a sense of self through how he is seen, heard and experienced by important others.

In the past, these views were primarily intimate and limited to the family or social circle. Today, however, it often happens that the child grows up in the presence of digital devices.
