Against the emergency law today with signatures for a referendum and a veto

Trade union centers have expressed concern regarding a recently adopted law concerning Slovenia, citing that the legislation was passed without engaging in social dialogue. Critics argue that the law interferes with fundamental areas of operation for social partners, specifically naming labor law, pension reform, and health legislation. Consequently, the unions initiated a signature collection drive for a referendum, which they plan to submit to the National Assembly (DZ) this afternoon, preceding a joint press conference scheduled for 2:00 PM.

Support for the signature collection appears robust, bolstered by assistance from non-governmental organizations and members of the outgoing coalition. The National Assembly is expected to rule on the commencement of the deadline for gathering the required 40,000 signatures to support the referendum. Furthermore, the unions noted that if the deputies pass a decision declaring the referendum inadmissible, the law in question still incorporates tax measures.
