Parents are not to blame for everything. They are responsible for change.

During the International Day of Families, a discussion was held at Studio Svet on channel A concerning the profound influence of family relationships on an individual’s life. The conversation centered on how the family unit serves as the initial environment where individuals learn about receiving love, acceptance, and validation, or conversely, where they may develop patterns of feeling compelled to constantly prove their self-worth. Uroš Perko, a psychotherapist, lecturer, and former top climber, addressed these complex issues.

Drawing from personal experience, including being the son of an alcoholic, Perko provided insights into familial patterns, the challenges of addiction, and the importance of taking personal responsibility for one’s life trajectory. Perko’s discussion emphasized the potential for change within established family dynamics. He spoke openly about recognizing inherited patterns and implementing strategies to break cycles of behavior.

The discussion highlighted the critical link between early life experiences within the family structure and adult psychological well-being, ultimately advocating for self-directed recovery and growth.
