Focus President Lotrič Defends Position Amidst Conflict of Interest Concerns

Mark Lotrič, the president of Focus and DS (Democratic Forum), has strongly refuted claims of a conflict of interest, dismissing them as a “fairy tale” propagated by the left. The controversy stems from questions regarding Lotrič’s dual roles as both the DS president and a member of the party’s council. Asta Vrečko questioned the appropriateness of Lotrič’s position, citing the DS’s representation of economic groups and professional associations.

She argued that the DS president holds a specific legal role distinct from that of council members, necessitating a resignation prior to coalition formation. Lotrič responded, asserting that there is no justification for his resignation. He maintained that his functions as DS president and party president are compatible, aligning with constitutional provisions, the DS law, its rules, and the integrity and corruption prevention law.

He stated that these facts have been present throughout his political career. Lotrič emphasized that the concerns are politically motivated, suggesting they originate from within the left political sphere. He believes the situation is being misrepresented and that his continued role is entirely legitimate.

  1. “It’s deeply concerning to see such accusations leveled against a prominent political figure and the potential implications for our institutions.”
