Melania about deceased mother: Barron brought Slovenian culture closer to her

Melania Trump Reflects on Family Connections Ahead of Mother’s Day

In observance of Mother’s Day, USA Today secured a written statement from First Lady Melania Trump. The statement offered insights into her family’s connections and traditions. Melania Trump highlighted the significant role her mother, Amalija Knavs, played in fostering Barron’s connection to his Slovenian heritage.

“My mother helped Barron maintain a strong connection with his Slovenian roots through food, language, and books,” she wrote. Knavs passed away on January 9, 2024, at the age of 78. Following Barron’s birth in 2006, both Melania and her parents, the Knavs couple, increased their time spent in the United States to be near their grandson.

Barron, now 20, is currently a student at New York University, having transferred to the Washington branch after his initial year. The First Lady described her son as similarly private and infrequent in public appearances as herself. He currently resides in the White House.

When asked about his well-being, Melania responded with a simple, “Naturally.”

The statement underscores the importance of family ties within the Trump family and the ongoing connection between Melania and Barron.
