The Chamber of Crafts for Night Work: ‘Traffic chaos of epic proportions’

Explosions Disrupt Motorway Construction in Slovenia, Raising Safety Concerns

Multiple explosions have occurred at a construction site on the Slovenian-Croatian motorway between Postojna and Razdrt since the start of March, totaling 47 incidents. The cause of these explosions and the resulting safety implications for ongoing work are now under scrutiny. Concerns are being raised regarding the adequacy of safety measures and the potential narrowness of the construction zones.

The Chamber of Commerce has characterized the situation as a significant disruption to Slovenian motorway traffic, describing the impact as “epic.” President Peter Pišek stated that prioritizing safety is paramount, while traffic flow directly impacts economic activity. “DARS should never have allowed so many investments on the Primorska, Gorenjska, Dolenjska, Štajerska regions, and has consequently caused substantial economic damage to road transport, both domestically and within the European context,” Pišek commented. On Friday, outgoing Minister of Transport Alenka Bratušek convened a meeting with the Ministry of Transport to discuss the escalating situation and potential solutions.

The focus remains on ensuring the safety of construction workers and mitigating the ongoing disruption to traffic flow.
