Traffic Congestion Across Slovenia Sparks Chamber of Commerce Concerns
The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Slovenia (OZS) has expressed serious concerns regarding persistent and widespread traffic congestion across the country’s motorways. Specifically, the organization highlighted significant disruptions on the Styrian motorway corridor between Domžale, Snežnik, and Zadobrova, as well as on the Primorska motorway near Postojna, particularly around the Ravbarkomanda area. OZS reports daily multi-kilometer traffic jams and increasing delays, alongside a rise in traffic accidents, representing a growing threat to public safety, economic activity, and the overall stability of the state.
The organization has criticized the Directorate for Motorways and Highways (DARS) for undertaking extensive construction projects simultaneously on key transport routes. OZS contends that DARS failed to adequately implement bypasses or ensure sufficient traffic flow management, and did not adhere to minimum safety standards during these works. The ongoing congestion is impacting the smooth operation of commerce and transportation throughout Slovenia, according to the Chamber.
