Slovenian Government Addresses Energy Crisis Through Public Finances Measures
Brussels – Slovenian Minister of Public Finances, Klemen Boštjančič, stated that the current situation regarding the European energy crisis is a widespread concern across the Union, not isolated to Slovenia. During a recent meeting in Brussels, EU finance ministers focused their efforts on implementing comprehensive measures to combat the crisis. Boštjančič highlighted Slovenia’s position as the third highest recipient of EU aid dedicated to mitigating the energy crisis.
He asserted that this allocation demonstrates a proactive response aimed at safeguarding both citizens and the national economy. The ministry’s adjustments to the budget implementation are presented as a standard operational procedure, reflecting their core responsibility to address deviations. Boštjančič explained that the ministry issued a call for action to other government ministries to develop specific measures.
Notably, the largest budgetary adjustments relate to increases in labor costs and healthcare expenditures. Boštjančič emphasized that these increases represent a necessary response to evolving demands within the public sector, rather than an indication of overspending. The focus remains on implementing effective public finances measures to navigate the ongoing energy crisis.
