Incident Involving Livestock Transport Investigated Following Road Congestion

The OU UVHVVR Postojna was alerted to an incident involving a livestock transport vehicle at 11:12. Initial attempts to contact the official veterinarian were unsuccessful, with no response recorded at 7:22 and 7:47, according to the Authority for Food Safety, Veterinary Medicine and Plant Protection. Upon receiving the initial report, the veterinarian immediately proceeded to the scene.

However, significant local road congestion delayed her arrival at 12:40. At that time, personnel were already engaged in the process of transferring the pig carcasses to a replacement vehicle. Following an assessment, the meat was determined unfit for human consumption due to inadequate hygiene conditions.

The transfer of the meat was completed approximately 45 minutes later, at 13:15. Subsequently, the replacement vehicle was moved to a bus stop at 13:40. The manual transfer of the carcasses necessitated a total process time of approximately two and a half hours.

The OU UVHVVR postojna confirmed the veterinarian was present at the scene throughout the incident.
