The government temporarily abolishes the environmental tax on fuel and heating oil

The Ministry of the Environment, Climate, has temporarily established a specific levy for several energy products. Currently, the levy on motor gasoline, diesel fuel, and heating oil is zero EUR. For kerosene, liquefied natural gas, liquefied petroleum gas, and other heavy oils, the existing levy of EUR 30.85 per unit of load continues.

This applies to both gaseous and solid fuels as well. The government anticipates that this adjustment will positively impact inflation, lessening the expansion of transportation and heating expenses. Furthermore, it aims to mitigate the danger of energy and transportation poverty.

This temporary measure is designed to provide relief during periods of heightened global energy price volatility. Crucially, the government’s decision does not deviate from established climate objectives. Instead, it offers a short-term response to external pressures, safeguarding individuals and the economy from significant financial strain.

The levy is scheduled to revert to EUR 30.85 per unit of load starting May 5, 2026.
