Friday morning will be winter, the holiday weekend will be warmer

Rainfall Offers Limited Drought Relief in Slovenia

Yesterday’s rainfall across most of Slovenia provided some respite from ongoing drought conditions. Measurements indicated an average of 10 to 15 millimeters of rain fell across the country, though the northeast and southwest regions received significantly less. Alongside the rainfall, strong winds impacted the Primorska region.

The Burja wind intensified overnight, with a peak gust of 128 kilometers per hour recorded in Podnanos. Forecasters predict the wind will gradually diminish throughout the day. Thursday morning brought a return to cold temperatures, with readings already approaching freezing.

Similar conditions are expected tomorrow morning, increasing the likelihood of frost formation within Slovenia’s interior. Experts warn of potential ice formation due to the cold, with a high probability of salt accumulation. Local forecasts highlight that ground temperatures could be 3 to 4 degrees Celsius lower than those measured at a height of two meters above ground level, particularly during the morning.

The combination of rain and cold temperatures presents a challenging weather scenario for the country.
