So the cards have been “discovered” after the law was confirmed, and who is in the game for ministers?

The National Community Party (NSi), along with the SLS and Fokus political groups, have voiced support for amending the government law, citing alignment with their program focused on rationalization, increased efficiency, and greater transparency. This support comes as speculation continues regarding the potential formation of a new government led by Janez Janša. Speaking at the outset, NSi leader Janez Cigler Kralj stated that the amendment reflects the trio’s program objectives.

When questioned about the possibility of a new Janša-led government, Cigler Kralj indicated that “a good outline” is certainly within the realm of possibility. He referenced Janša’s previous announcement of distributing initial proposals to potential coalition partners, suggesting this process would commence shortly. Conversely, Social Democratic Party (SDP) leader Borut Sajovic expressed reservations, characterizing the current situation as a result of “playing games, broken promises, even manipulation.” Sajovic noted that the proposed government does not reflect the will of the electorate.

Despite these concerns, he emphasized the need for procedural advancement, aiming for Slovenia’s 16th government and acknowledging the ongoing challenges the opposition will continue to address. The “cards,” according to Sajovic, remain open, and the amendment to the law is a significant development.
