Pilot who rescued a severely burned baby: Few summers are as demanding

A 14-year-old boy remains in serious condition at the Kalićeva Street Children’s Hospital following a severe electrical injury sustained while climbing a transformer station. The individual was admitted to the intensive care unit on Monday morning and transported by police helicopter. Bernardo Bartoluci, an experienced pilot with the Lučko anti-terrorist unit, described the case as particularly challenging.

“I have conducted numerous medical flights, but I have never encountered a patient with this level of severity,” he stated to Net.hr. The operation to reach the injured teen was described as highly coordinated. According to reports, a medical team was swiftly dispatched, and the pilot performed skillfully during the transport.

“It is always specific when dealing with a child, and this is a sentiment shared by every member of the crew,” Bartoluci added. The medical team’s rapid response and treatment in the helicopter are being recognized for their critical role in the boy’s condition. Further updates on his recovery are expected.
