Teenager’s Instagram Video Sparks Investigation into Straw Incident

An incident involving a beverage dispensing machine at a Singapore shopping center has prompted a formal investigation following the widespread circulation of a video. The video, posted by 18-year-old Didier Gaspard Owen Maximilien on Instagram, captured the event and quickly garnered significant online attention. The machine, managed by iJooz, was immediately taken out of service following the incident on March 12th.

As a result, all 500 straws were replaced and enhanced hygiene protocols were implemented. iJooz also conducted a thorough inspection of the machine to determine the cause. Maximilien, a student at the ESSEC Business School in Singapore, faces potential legal consequences if found responsible.

According to reports from the BBC, he could face a prison sentence exceeding two years and a substantial fine. The school has confirmed awareness of the incident and stated that internal investigations are underway. Maximilien’s legal team, speaking to CNA, indicated that the student’s relationship with his girlfriend has ended, and his parents have traveled to Singapore to support him.

Authorities are currently reviewing the video evidence as part of their investigation into this particular incident.
