Documentary Series Charts the Journey of Anne Frank

Berlin – A new documentary series is set to explore the life and final days of Anne Frank, tracing her journey from her birthplace in Frankfurt to her refuge in Amsterdam and culminating in her death at the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp at the age of 15. The information was released by the Anne Frank House following reports from German news agency dpa. Actress and activist Leyb Elias has taken on the role of Anne Frank within the series, which will unfold weekly with a new episode.

The documentary aims to immerse viewers in Frank’s experiences, documenting her travels. Elias’s exploration includes a meeting with refugee author Mohamedou Ould Slahi in the former Anne Frank House in Amsterdam, discussions with young people about prejudice and antisemitism within a synagogue setting, and conversations with Holocaust survivors. Historical footage and images are incorporated to provide context.

Anne Frank (1929-1945) spent two years living in hiding before her tragic fate. The series promises a thoughtful and informative examination of this pivotal figure in 20th-century history, offering a deeper understanding of the events surrounding her life and the broader context of the Holocaust.
