A shooting incident occurred at the Teotihuacan archaeological site on Monday, during the middle of the day when the site was hosting a large number of tourists. Authorities confirmed an armed individual, identified as a 27-year-old man from the Mexican capital, opened fire at the ancient ruins. Reports indicate the man initially fired into the sky before targeting tourists climbing the iconic Moon Pyramid.

Six other tourists – from Canada, Colombia, Brazil, and the United States – were transported to hospitals for treatment. Furthermore, seven additional tourists, including individuals from Colombia, Russia, Brazil, and the United States, sustained injuries while attempting to flee the scene and received immediate medical attention. Mexican President expressed the incident as a “tragedy.” Investigations are currently underway to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting and identify the suspect.
