In Bulgaria, the eighth elections since 2021: the left-center coalition leads

The Levosredinska koalicija, centered around former Bulgarian President Rumen Radev, is projected to win the early elections held in Bulgaria. Preliminary results announced Sunday evening indicate a decisive lead for the coalition, largely due to Radev’s candidacy for president, a pivotal factor in the election. The coalition is currently securing approximately 38% of the vote, according to reports.

Following closely is the Liberal Coalition PP-DB, anticipated to receive around 14% of the electorate. The GERB-SDS alliance, led by former Prime Minister Bojko Borisov, who held office for nearly a decade, is expected to garner approximately 13% of the votes. Radev’s decision to seek the presidency, the first in Bulgaria since 1990, significantly influenced the outcome of these elections.

The results mark a shift in Bulgaria’s political landscape and set the stage for the formation of a new government. Tanjug reports that these figures represent the initial projections following the conclusion of voting. The election results will determine the next president of Bulgaria.
