In the underdog victory at the oldest classic, Roglič is third

The classic Milan-Turin race concluded with a decisive victory for Primož Roglič, a result anticipated in the final kilometers. The competition, established in 1876, saw the winner determined near the second crossing of the Superga. Approximately 1.5 kilometers from the finish line, Roglič initiated a powerful acceleration, though he couldn’t immediately isolate himself from the remaining competitors.

In the last 600 meters, he aggressively pulled away from a group of five cyclists, securing a crucial advantage of several seconds. He firmly maintained his lead throughout the final ascent. This victory marked his 12th career win and second triumph this year, following his success in the fifth stage of the race in Andalusia, four weeks prior.

Tobias Johannessen (Uno-X Mobility) finished second, trailing Roglič by four seconds. Johannessen remained a further second behind the 36-year-old Kisovčan. Zasavec demonstrated increased activity during today’s race, showcasing a more dynamic performance.
