The firefighting units are currently engaged in a strike, commencing at 6 a.m. today and scheduled to continue until Sunday. As Švarc explained, the team has yet to receive any concrete support from the government side, receiving only general statements they consider inaccurate and deceptive.
Should the government fail to initiate negotiations, the strike will persist. It’s impacting all fourteen professional firefighting units across the region. These units have suspended routine operations, including maintenance and training, but are nonetheless responding to emergencies.
Despite the strike action, Švarc stressed that safety protocols remain paramount. “Nothing changes in terms of ensuring the safety of people, animals, and property,” he asserted. The team continues to undertake urgent interventions, safeguarding individuals and assets during fires or other accidents.
“The strike is not aimed at people,” Švarc clarified. “We are solely focused on handling urgent situations, such as interventions, protecting people, animals, and property.” David Švarc PHOTO: 24UR NIGHT
