A seven-ton meteor exploded over Ohiom

The meteor was initially observed on Tuesday morning local time above Lake Erie, close to the boundary between the USA and Canada. NASA, the American space agency, verified that the object traveled over more than 55 kilometers through the atmosphere before detonating over the Valley City region near Cleveland. This resulted in a significant explosion, which was detected and experienced across considerable distances.

Numerous reports came in from across several US states on Tuesday morning. People described witnessing a brilliant fireball in the sky. The American Meteorological Society noted that comparable accounts were received, extending from Wisconsin to Maryland.

Residents of Ohio also reported experiencing the aftermath of the explosion. Some individuals stated that they initially believed a tree had collapsed onto their house roofs. Others recalled hearing noises resembling fireworks.

The meteor itself was approximately 100 feet in diameter. The event highlighted the sudden appearance of the meteor over the region and its subsequent violent explosion.
