The current fuel shortages at service stations are not a result of insufficient supplies from distributors, according to Environment, Climate and Energy Minister Bojan Kumer, who made this statement on Thursday. He clarified that the issue stems from logistical challenges specifically affecting the supply chain to service stations. To address this, the government intends to gradually release reserve oil derivatives, working in coordination with both dealers and the anticipated arrival of ships carrying fuel into the Port of Koper.
A decision on this intervention is expected to be made today. Minister Kumer will be coordinating with the Ministry of Economy, the Commodities Reserve Agency, and the dealers to formulate short- and medium-term solutions. The Ministry of Environment, Climate and Energy confirmed on Saturday that the necessary materials for the government’s decision were being prepared.
Furthermore, the government could potentially utilize Petrol’s existing reserves to supplement fuel supplies at service stations. This strategic approach aims to mitigate the current difficulties and ensure a more stable supply network.
