The inaugural session of the National Assembly, to be convened by the President of the Republic, will be led by 72-year-old Franc Križan, a member of the Democratic Party. Protocol dictates that the second most senior political position in the country is traditionally held by Janez Cigler Kralj, a member of the NSi – Christian Democratic Party. This party has previously resisted forming a coalition government with Robert Golob.
Marko Lotrič, the president of the Focus Party, stated that Cigler Kralj is currently the interim leader of the parliamentary group and is considered a candidate for the position of President of the National Assembly, representing a coalition of the NSi, SLS, and Focus parties. Within the immediate circle of the election’s relative winner, efforts are underway to finalize a coalition agreement. This agreement is expected to be presented to potential partners by Wednesday.
The parties involved are continuing to pursue their political strategy.
