The seasonal flower trends: white returns, classic and elegance

Floral trends are shifting, according to observations at the Center for Lifelong Learning in the Biotechnical Center Peter Ribič. Recent data indicates a decline in flower consumption at traditional events like weddings and funerals. However, there’s been a noticeable uptick in the use of flowers for everyday decorative purposes.

Ribič, a specialist in the field, believes the florist profession remains secure. He notes that horticulture is often viewed as a discretionary expense, making it particularly vulnerable to economic downturns. “When the economy experiences instability or a crisis, the demand for horticultural products is quickly affected,” he stated.

Despite fluctuations in demand – a pattern the center is accustomed to – Ribič remains confident in the long-term viability of floristry. He attributes this resilience to the enduring human desire for beauty and the continued need for floral arrangements in domestic settings. The center’s research reflects a broader trend of adapting to changing consumer preferences while maintaining a core market for floral services.
