Two Top Cyclists Among Those Who Violated Traffic Rules at Belgian Race
The Public Prosecutor’s Office of East Flanders has announced that consent is required for the inclusion of social media and third-party content related to an incident during a recent race. The office stated they will identify and report any individuals who violate regulations. Approximately 20 cyclists were observed disregarding traffic rules and crossing a railway line just before the race gate closed.
Among those involved were Tadej Pogačar, who ultimately secured the victory, and Remco Evenepoel, who finished in third place. The incident occurred roughly 210 kilometers from the race’s finish line in Wichelen. Despite visible warning signs, several cyclists, having led for extended periods, successfully crossed the railway line prior to the gate’s closure.
Most of the riders stopped appropriately in front of the gate, however, the actions of those who had gained a significant lead prompted the investigation. The Public Prosecutor’s Office will compile a report following the review of the violations.
