Kultna Luža impressed in Planica: People come to have fun

The annual Luža event in Planica, Slovenia, drew a crowd eager for a festive end to winter and a welcome to spring. Journalist Tjaša Železen initially focused on the trick and fall categories, but quickly became captivated by the best dressed competition, allowing more daring competitors to take the lead. Jurors described the event as a longstanding tradition.

“Luža has already gained the status of a cult event, which announces the end of winter and the coming of spring – just like the kurenti and the like,” stated Jure Košir. Filip Flisar echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the event’s lighthearted nature. “This is not a serious competition,” he explained.

“Everyone participates to the best of their ability, but it’s not the World Cup. People come to have fun, to enjoy themselves, and to refresh after the winter months. The competitors and spectators, and of course the jurors, all enjoy the experience.”

The event provided a day of entertainment for both participants and onlookers, solidifying Luža’s position as a popular and spirited celebration.
