The recent official mission dedicated to cultural heritage restoration was limited in scope, involving only two personnel for a single day. According to Martin Kavčič of the Restoration Center of the Institute for the Protection of Cultural Heritage of Slovenia (ZVKDS), the constraints were primarily logistical and practical. He noted that coordinating the effort was complicated by several factors, including the schedules of other collaborating groups, staff annual leave, and the unpredictable weather.
Kavčič explained that planning large-scale restoration projects is challenging because accommodation in mountain huts requires advance reservations that are heavily contingent upon favorable weather. While reservations can be made weeks in advance, fluctuations in the weather often prevent the execution of larger, more complex initiatives. Separately, legislative attention focused on a proposal to amend the Law on holidays and days off.
This amendment aims to designate August 7th, the day associated with Triglav, as a national holiday. However, sources indicated that even if the proposal is passed through a shortened legislative procedure, the day would not automatically be established as a mandatory day off for the public.
