About the Ukrainian plane, a drone with a detonator, the airport was closed

An incident at the airport prompted significant operational changes, including the diversion of several aircraft. According to reports confirmed by the German press agency dpa, police seized a suspected drone following the event. Earlier, authorities had temporarily suspended nighttime flights after spotting an unidentified flying object above the facility, and a separate suspicious object was also located on the ground.

Subsequently, the northern runway was reopened for operations. However, the southern runway remained closed as investigators continued their examination of the object discovered there. Further details indicate that the drone was found in proximity to an Antonov cargo plane originating from Ukraine.

At the time of the incident, this cargo plane was reported to be flying approximately six kilometers from the airport and had allegedly collided with an unknown object. Despite the circumstances surrounding the initial incident, the cargo plane reportedly landed safely at the airport in Hanover. Upon arrival, a small object was discovered attached to the front section of the aircraft.

The ongoing investigation continues to assess the nature of the unidentified object and the circumstances surrounding the drone’s presence near the cargo plane. Authorities are managing the site to ensure full operational safety following the disruption to the airport’s usual procedures.
