Seven tourists encountered severe difficulties while traversing the Elbrus mountain at an altitude of 5,100 meters. According to reports from the Russian portal Lenta.ru, the group signaled for assistance after becoming unable to descend the mountain independently. Tragically, the descent proved perilous. Reports confirm that five individuals died during the challenging descent. Of the initial group, only one person managed to call for help, and the seventh member was subsequently rescued by the arriving teams.
Both survivors were transported to a local hospital for treatment. Russian media outlets reported that all the climbers involved in the incident were nationals of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Initially, the weather conditions were forecasted to be favorable for the ascent.
However, adverse weather developed in the morning, marked by the onset of strong winds, which contributed significantly to the difficult circumstances faced by the mountaineers on Elbrus.
