In a statement to the media, the Minister detailed that the Foreign Ministry’s review found that the previous representative’s nomination was not submitted by the government official responsible for daily operations, Robert Golob. Instead, the submission originated from the MZEZ Secretary General, an official who reports directly to Fajon.
Minister Kajzer stated that the process revealed a significant discrepancy, noting, “It is clear from this process that there is a suspicion that there have been serious violations, and as a result, appropriate procedures have now been initiated.”
Furthermore, Kajzer publicly refuted allegations made by his predecessor. He denied claims suggesting he was informed about the nomination during the handover of duties at the beginning of June, and explicitly rejected assertions that the matter was influenced by political motives. The discussion centers on the proper administrative handling of high-level diplomatic appointments.
The focus remains on establishing accountability regarding the nomination process for the EU representative role. By initiating formal procedures based on the discovered procedural gaps, the government aims to clarify the adherence to established protocols surrounding such key diplomatic posts.
