This particular powertrain unit was initially tested by Mercedes at the Red Bull Ring, and the Williams and Alpine teams have already utilized it during the Silverstone race.
Consequently, the McLaren team anticipates receiving new powertrains this weekend at the Spa-Francorchamps circuit. The nature of the first and third sectors at Spa means that performance on flat sections and maximum speed will be particularly critical. Furthermore, McLaren has confirmed plans regarding its operational status for the race weekend.
The decision to manage engine deployment reflects a strategy to mitigate risks associated with recent component issues while ensuring optimal performance for the upcoming demanding circuit.
