Due to logistical adjustments, the official start point for the day’s cycling stage has been altered. Instead of beginning in Malemort, the convoy departing from Brive-la-Gaillarde, operating under neutral status, will proceed eastward. It will rejoin the planned route in Lanteuil, which is located less than 150 km from the final finish line.
Consequently, the 9th stage of the tour will be approximately 8 km shorter than originally planned. The route presents riders with a significant physical challenge, requiring them to ascend several hundred meters of altitude, particularly within the Lanteuil section, before navigating a demanding stretch toward Ussel. Reflecting on the day’s expected difficulty, Tadej Pogačar commented on the Sunday stage, stating, “This will be one of the most annoying stages for our team and I hope we are prepared for suffering.”
In the overall standings for the tour, Pogačar maintains a substantial lead, holding a gap of 2 minutes and 42 seconds over Jonas Vingegaard.
The adjustments to the start and the challenging terrain suggest a demanding day for all competitors in the tour.
