Daily reports from regional emergency centers detailed a day of significant activity for local mountain rescue teams on a hot Friday in July. The day’s operations highlighted the continuous readiness required for responding to unforeseen incidents in the mountainous terrain. Early in the morning, the first response was activated in Radovljica.
At 9:44 AM, the teams received an alert concerning an individual who had suddenly become ill at Valvasorjev dom pod Stolom. The initial mountain rescue personnel provided immediate care on site before transporting the individual down into the valley floor. Upon arrival, the patient was taken over by emergency medical assistance crews and subsequently transferred to the Jesenice hospital for further treatment.
The operational tempo continued throughout the afternoon. Later, mountain rescue teams were dispatched from Mojstrana to address a separate incident. Around eleven o’clock, a hiker sustained a leg injury while traversing the area between Kredarica and Krma.
A police helicopter from Brnik was quickly deployed to the scene to manage the extraction. The helicopter initially transported the injured hiker to the Jesenice facility. Later in the afternoon, the aerial support was utilized again, moving the hiker to the Dom Valentina Staniča in Kranjska Gora.
These incidents underscore the multifaceted nature of regional emergency services. The coordinated efforts of medical staff, police aviation, and dedicated mountain rescue personnel were essential in ensuring timely care and safe evacuation for those affected by illness or injury in the challenging mountain environment.
