A British citizen reported to the police on July 5 following an incident involving a local taxi service. The incident occurred on the evening of July 4 when she and two family members were traveling by taxi from Zadar to Privlaka. Upon reaching their destination, the 41-year-old taxi driver demanded a fare of 500 euros for the approximately 20-kilometer journey.
The British tourist contested this charge, stating that she had paid a significantly lower rate for the same route earlier that day. When the dispute could not be resolved, the driver allegedly locked the three individuals inside the vehicle and continued driving. This action caused considerable alarm and fear for the safety of the family and the other tourists present.
Under pressure from the situation, the tourist ultimately paid the demanded sum using a card. Following payment, the taxi driver released the passengers and continued driving. According to reports from the Zadar police administration, an investigation was initiated based on the complaint.
Subsequently, the authorities arrested the taxi driver in connection with the incident. The police investigation addressed the dispute over the fare and the subsequent confinement of the tourists.
