Shooting for drugs? Police found a kilogram of marijuana, cocaine, bullets…

Međimurje police have concluded a criminal investigation into a man who was detained on Monday following an incident involving a shooting in the center of Čakovec, which resulted in two injuries. The investigation, conducted in collaboration with the Varaždin state prosecutor’s office, has established justified suspicion that the 42-year-old man committed several criminal offenses. Specifically, authorities suspect him of two counts of attempted murder, two counts of endangering life and property, and one count related to the unlawful production and transportation of drugs.

The incident occurred late Friday night, around 3:40 AM, in the central area of Čakovec. The initial confrontation began when the suspect reportedly fought with a 22-year-old man inside a restaurant, during which threats were exchanged. After the establishment closed, the 42-year-old allegedly waited for the 22-year-old and three other individuals at a nearby parking lot.

During the subsequent physical confrontation, the suspect allegedly threatened the 22-year-old man with a knife, leading to the victim falling to the ground. The investigation into the shooting and associated criminal activities is ongoing, detailing the sequence of events that led to the injuries sustained by the two victims. The police report confirms the scope of the criminal charges against the detained individual.
