The Manhattan skyscraper was temporarily secured, the danger is not yet completely over

Following initial inspections, city inspectors permitted contractors to begin installing temporary steel supports designed to reinforce the compromised sections of the structure. City authorities have reported that the damaged columns have remained stationary since the afternoon, and the building continues to be under constant surveillance. Workers observed noticeable bending in the columns, prompting Commissioner Ahmed Tigani of the New York Department of Buildings to initiate a large-scale evacuation during the evening.

Tigani stated that after inspecting the 21st floor, the authorities concluded that immediate stabilization measures were necessary. In response, workers are now installing additional steel supports atop the temporary scaffolding. These reinforcements are intended to facilitate further restoration work, according to reports.

While some residents of at least one adjacent building have been permitted to return, the evacuation order remains in effect for four surrounding buildings. The city has maintained a high level of vigilance regarding the structural integrity of the site. Officials emphasized that while the damaged areas required immediate attention, the current monitoring suggests that the situation is being managed through phased stabilization efforts.

The focus remains on ensuring that no further structural compromise occurs while necessary repairs are undertaken.
