A large fire on Hvar under control

A significant fire occurred in Ivan Dolac, Hvar, requiring substantial efforts from multiple units to bring it under control. The blaze consumed an area exceeding 200 hectares, impacting various types of vegetation, including grass, low-lying flora, and pine forest. Furthermore, the incident resulted in the destruction of several vineyards and two abandoned residences, alongside damage sustained by two villas, according to reports from the Croatian Firefighting Association.

The response to the emergency involved not only numerous local firefighting units but also the assistance of four firefighters from Canada. During the intensive firefighting operations, safety posed a risk to personnel. The firefighting commander, Roman Radonjić, confirmed that one firefighter sustained a minor eye injury; however, he clarified that the injury did not result in any serious complications.

The scale of the damage underscores the intensity of the fire event in the Hvar region. The coordinated effort from various firefighting resources was critical in mitigating further loss. The successful containment of the blaze, despite its extensive impact, highlights the commitment of the firefighting services to public safety in the area.
