The third stage of the Tour has been adjusted by the Tour management, in collaboration with the Pyrenees-Orientales department, to account for recent forest fires. Despite the necessary modifications, the route remains on schedule, traveling from Granollers in Spain to Les Angles in France, covering a distance of 195.9 km. This initial mountain stage of the current tour presents a significant challenge for the cyclists.
Competitors will face four categorized climbs throughout the demanding stage. The most challenging ascent is situated approximately 70 km from the finish line at the Toses pass, which has a gradient of 9.3 km with an average slope of 6.5%. Following this, riders will traverse the Calvaire pass, featuring a gradient of 11.4 km with a 4.1% slope.
The conclusion of the stage involves a final climb leading into Les Angles, presenting a gradient of 1.7 km with a 6.5% incline. The organizers have adapted the itinerary to ensure the safety of the participants while maintaining the intended sporting challenge for this crucial tour leg.
