The mother and son should have died a week ago: a parking ticket was found in the vehicle

The ongoing investigation by the Carabinieri has concluded that there is no evidence suggesting the deaths of two Slovenian hikers resulted from a criminal act. Investigators currently favor the theory that the hikers died due to a mountain accident. Authorities believe that the water current subsequently carried their bodies downstream into the dry bed of the Mangart stream.

The bodies were discovered on June 29 by a hiker, found separated by approximately 50 meters within the stream. Initially, it was assumed that the Slovenian pair had died a month ago. However, recent findings from Italian police have revised this timeline.

The latest evidence suggests that they most likely died on June 23. This revised date was established after police recovered a parking ticket from the vehicle belonging to the 49-year-old deceased. This ticket served as proof that the hikers had arrived at the Belopeško jezero area on June 23.

Furthermore, reports indicate that heavy rainfall occurred that late afternoon, which likely accounts for the water flow that moved the bodies away from the initial site. The findings shift the focus of the inquiry away from foul play and toward environmental factors related to the accident and subsequent weather conditions.
