Marko Lotrič has been formally charged with criminal offenses by Alenka Bratušek, the President of the Commission for the Control of Public Finances. The charges were jointly filed by the President of the party Fokus and State Council, Marko Lotrič, alongside Monika Kirbiš Rojs, the Minister for Local Government, Co-operation and Regional Development. In their official statement, the filing parties alleged that the President of the Commission improperly managed a specific matter.
They stated that the Commission’s actions included convening and chairing a second emergency session of the Commission for the Control of Public Finances. According to the filing, this procedural step exceeded the authority granted to the Commission under the established Rules of Procedure of the National Assembly. Consequently, the complainants proposed that an investigation be conducted into potential criminal violations.
Specifically, they cited suspicions of abuse of official position or official rights under Article 257 of the Criminal Code, as well as the charge of negligent work in service under Article 258 of the Criminal Code. The accusers asserted that the manner in which the matter was handled—specifically the convening and chairing of the emergency session by the Commission’s president—was intended to provide the initiating parties with an unwarranted and unfair advantage in the proceedings. The filing marks a significant procedural challenge directed at the internal operations and oversight powers of the Commission.
