Interior Minister Boštjan Poklukar stated that an incident was fortunate because no injuries were sustained. He warned that the situation posed significant risks, noting that if the bottle, described as a Molotov cocktail, had shattered upon impact, two official vehicles could have been engulfed in flames, potentially leading to serious endangerment of the lives of police officers carrying out their official duties. Poklukar emphasized that such actions constitute a criminal offense.
He cited Article 300 of the Criminal Code, which stipulates that attacking an official person while carrying out security duties is punishable by a prison sentence ranging from six months to five years. The Minister expressed disapproval of the attack, stating that it is unacceptable to target police officers while they are performing their duties. Furthermore, he criticized the lack of apparent state response to an event that carried the potential for grave consequences.
Poklukar questioned why the appropriate mechanisms, namely the prosecution and the courts, did not appear to take action following the incident.
