What will the locals get from the 32 million Yaskawa project?

A facility in Kočevje showcases the current reality of advanced robotics, marked by a ribbon-cutting ceremony involving sophisticated robots. While the specific market share of the company remains unstated, they assert a significant position, claiming to be among the top four key players in the European industry. Furthermore, it is reported that 80 percent of all robots intended for the European market will now be manufactured in Kočevje, Slovenia.

Robert Bicko, President of Yaskawa Nordic, commented on the company’s European presence from Sweden. He noted that geographical distance is not a significant deterrent for his organization, stating, “One hour is nothing for us, so in this case it’s not a big problem for us.” For Yaskawa Nordic, the strategic advantages of the current location include its proximity to the Port of Koper and access to a skilled workforce. This location, according to Bicko, also supports the company’s future development plans.

The facility’s operational scale suggests a major contribution to the regional industrial landscape.
