The Slovenian Environmental Agency (Arso) reports that the average temperature for Slovenia for the month of June is projected to be 20.2 degrees Celsius. This figure is notable when compared to historical climate data, as the current June marks a record-breaking period. The agency provided context by comparing this year to previous warm June months.
In fact, the month of June 2003 recorded the warmest average since 1950. Following this, June 2019 ranked third, and June 2022 was the fourth warmest. More significantly, the temperature recorded this June was approximately 2.7 degrees Celsius warmer than the average observed between 1991 and 2020.
Climatologist Gregor Vertačnik confirmed the exceptional nature of the month, noting that the reading from the Podnanos station in the Vipava Valley represented the highest temperature recorded in Slovenia since comparable data began in 1950. He stated that no other measuring station in the country had registered such a high temperature for June. According to Vertačnik, this particular June was significant because it represented the first time the month had exceeded the average recorded since 1991.
The data confirms that this specific year’s June has set new records for warmth across the nation, marking a distinct deviation from long-term climatic patterns.
