Exhausted Slovenian on the board for hours trapped at sea

Maritime police received a notification around 15:30 concerning a person floating in the sea near Crven vrh. Reports indicated that strong sea currents and wind were making it difficult for the individual to return to the shore. Approximately twenty minutes later, a police vessel arrived at the scene and located two visibly exhausted Slovenian citizens holding a surfboard.

Upon arrival, the police secured the Slovenian citizen and transported both individuals to land. Investigators determined that the incident began earlier, around 12:30, when a 65-year-old woman entered the coastal sea. Due to the prevailing wind and strong currents, she was unable to navigate back to the beach.

About an hour later, her husband realized she was missing. He retrieved a surfboard and headed out into the water in an attempt to guide her back to shore. However, the powerful sea currents proved too strong, preventing the man from reaching the safety of the land.

The rescue effort concluded with the recovery of the two exhausted individuals. The incident highlights the dangers posed by unpredictable sea conditions, which presented a significant challenge to both the swimmers and the responding rescue teams. The couple was subsequently taken ashore for further assistance.
