The temperature in one of the vessels with samples from the Biobank is rising

An agency has issued a directive regarding the storage status of various stem cell samples, highlighting immediate logistical and infrastructural concerns. Specifically, the agency noted that several owners of these valuable samples have recently executed contracts for continued storage with the company Izvorna celica. However, as Izvorna celica has not yet undergone a formal takeover, an appropriate agreement must be concluded promptly.

This agreement is critical to facilitate the transfer of the samples to a secure location before the storage temperature surpasses critical safety levels. Compounding this issue, GaiaCell reported that the liquid nitrogen supply designated for the blood vials housing the stem cell samples at the Biobank was depleted by the end of last week. The facility’s last resupply was documented as occurring on June 12th, provided by the supplier Istrabenz gases.

In light of this depletion, the agency had previously issued warnings concerning the potential danger posed by a gradual increase in the storage temperature late last week. The confluence of these factors—the pending transfer agreements for the samples and the critical shortage of cryogenics—necessitates immediate action. The owners, or their designated representatives, along with GaiaCell and Izvorna celica, are strongly urged to finalize the necessary operational and legal agreements.

The primary objective is to ensure the continuous, stable preservation of the samples, mitigating any risk associated with fluctuations in temperature that could compromise the viability of the stored biological material.
