Who will be the new advocate of the principle of equality?

Reports indicate that the President is considering several potential candidates for an upcoming role. Among those mentioned is Petra Klepec, who currently works as a self-employed consultant at an advocate’s office. She is noted to possess both a law degree and a master’s degree in law obtained in Germany.

Another individual under consideration is Barbara Zupančič, a psychologist and the director of the Slovenia Diversity Charter. The office of the President has declined to issue a comment regarding these developing matters. Procedurally, consultations are expected to take place with the leaders of the parliamentary groups during the first half of this week.

According to current procedures, the candidate or candidates must be formally proposed by these group leaders no later than the end of June. It is also noted that the nominees are not necessarily required to be drawn from a pre-registered list. Subsequently, the Members of Parliament will be required to vote on the selection by the end of July.

These developments confirm that the next term is anticipated to be five years in duration.
