The veterinary chamber also calls for care for animals during heat waves

The Chamber of Commerce has issued advisories detailing necessary precautions for pet owners managing their animals during high summer temperatures. The recommendations focus heavily on preventing heat-related stress and ensuring the welfare of the pet. Key guidelines emphasize maintaining consistent hydration and environmental safety for the animal.

Owners must ensure that suitable, fresh drinking water is readily available at all times. Furthermore, providing consistent access to shaded areas is critical. A primary warning issued by the chamber is the absolute prohibition of leaving any animal unattended inside a closed, parked vehicle, citing the extreme dangers of overheating.

Regarding physical activity, the chamber suggests limiting walks and other strenuous exercise to the cooler hours of the early morning and late evening. If travel is unavoidable, the advisory recommends scheduling trips to avoid the peak daytime heat. Should owners travel during warmer periods, the chamber advises incorporating numerous short stops.

At each of these stops, the pet must be offered fresh drinking water, and a brief period of walking is recommended to aid in cooling and circulation. These measures collectively aim to safeguard the health and safety of the animal throughout the challenging summer months.
