At approximately 3:15 PM, police in Koper received multiple calls reporting a significant traffic accident on the Koprska cesta in Portorož. The incident involved a vehicle that ultimately ended up on its roof. Authorities determined that the 21-year-old driver was operating a personal car traveling from the direction of Portorož toward Valeta.
According to initial reports, the accident occurred because the driver was operating the vehicle at an unadapted speed. This loss of control caused the car to impact the median wall, resulting in the vehicle overturning onto its roof. The driver sustained minor physical injuries and was subsequently transported to the SB Izola facility by emergency rescue services.
Her companion was reported to be uninjured in the incident. Following the accident, an alcohol test administered to the driver revealed a concentration of 0.52 mg/l in her exhaled air. In response to the findings, police officers immediately prohibited the driver from operating any vehicle and temporarily confiscated her driving license.
Furthermore, the police have stated their intention to file an official indictment against the driver in connection with the traffic violation.
