Higher salaries for members of the new parliament: how much are they?

Parliamentary Salaries to Increase Following Initial Payment Hike

Recent data published by the Večer newspaper indicates a significant increase in the initial salary payments for members of parliament. The first installment is reportedly between 11 and 13 percent, with a further rise scheduled for June. The baseline salary for a member of parliament in the lowest salary class is projected to be approximately 4,900 euros gross, while the highest-paid member will receive around 6,340 euros gross.

These figures do not include various allowances provided to parliamentarians. Projections estimate a series of salary increases through 2028. By the end of that period, the lowest-paid member of parliament is expected to earn 6,430 euros gross, and the highest-paid will receive 7,900 euros gross.

This latter figure would also represent the salary of the head of the National Assembly. Data from May reveals that Zoran Stevanović received a gross basic salary of approximately 7,343 euros. Urška Klakočar Zupančič’s payment in March was recorded at around 6,531 euros gross.

These adjustments to the parliamentary salary structure reflect ongoing discussions regarding compensation for elected officials.
