UN Commission Report Highlights Allegations of Targeting of Palestinian Children in Gaza
The UN International Commission of Inquiry released a new report focusing on the impact of the conflict on children in Gaza. Chairman Srinivasan Muralidhar stated that evidence suggests Israeli security forces deliberately targeted and killed Palestinian minors. The commission’s findings center on the assertion that “the deliberate targeting of children is one of the key elements in establishing the genocidal intent of the Israeli authorities and security forces regarding the complete or partial destruction of the Palestinian population in Gaza.”
The report, presented to the UN Human Rights Council, builds upon a September 2023 assessment that Israel committed genocide in Gaza.
That initial investigation also implicated high-ranking Israeli officials, including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, in promoting the actions. The commission documented 1,000 Israeli military operations conducted within Gaza over a 22-day period. During this time, the report indicates that 1,000 Palestinians were killed.
It’s important to note that this report does not represent an official statement from the United Nations. The commission’s work is ongoing and aims to provide a detailed account of the situation.
